Anxiety

According to the National Institutes of Health, 18.1% of adults in the United States are suffering from an anxiety disorder at any given time. Although occasional anxiety is a normal part of life, anxiety disorders involve fear or anxiety that does not go away and can interfere with daily functioning. There are several different types of anxiety disorders including Panic Disorder, Agoraphobia, Specific Phobia, Social Anxiety Disorder, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Decades of research indicate that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an effective treatment for anxiety disorders. Dr. Culver is trained and experienced in CBT as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for anxiety disorders. ACT is a newer treatment which incorporates aspects of mindfulness and focuses on one’s values as well as taking concrete steps towards living a more value-driven life. There is now substantial evidence to indicate that ACT is an effective treatment for anxiety disorders as well. If you are suffering from an anxiety disorder, Dr. Culver would be happy to work with you towards alleviating your symptoms.
